Does This Sound Familiar?
You understand what’s happening — but you still find yourself reacting.
Maybe you:
- Become anxious, angry, overwhelmed or shut down more quickly than you would like
- Find certain people, conversations or situations immediately put you on edge
- Replay interactions long after they are over
- Know intellectually that you are safe, but your body doesn’t seem to get the message
- Have difficulty settling yourself once you become activated
- Say or do things in the moment that you later wish you had handled differently
- Avoid difficult conversations because you are worried about how you will react
- Feel chronically tense, vigilant or unable to fully switch off
- Understand your patterns but still struggle to change them
These reactions do not necessarily mean something is wrong with you.
They are often learned patterns of protection that have become automatic.
The work begins by learning to recognize those patterns earlier — before they completely take over.
What It Is
Creating more space between what happens and what you do next.
Your nervous system is constantly interpreting what is happening around you and deciding how to respond.
Sometimes that response is useful. At other times, past experiences, accumulated stress or familiar patterns can cause the nervous system to react more strongly or more quickly than the current situation requires.
Nervous System Regulation Coaching helps you become more aware of those responses and develop practical ways of working with them.
This is not about eliminating stress, avoiding difficult emotions or trying to remain calm all the time.
The goal is to increase your ability to
notice what is happening, understand your response, regulate yourself when necessary, and choose what you want to do next.
Over time, that creates greater flexibility in how you respond to stress, conflict, relationships and everyday challenges.
The Method
Recognize. Regulate. Rewire.
The process is built around three stages.
-
01
Recognize
Before you can change a reaction, you have to be able to notice it.
We begin by identifying the situations, thoughts, sensations and patterns that tend to activate your nervous system.
You learn to recognize your own early warning signs — physical tension, changes in breathing, racing thoughts, defensiveness, withdrawal, irritability, urgency or other signals that tell you something is happening inside.
Awareness creates the opportunity for choice.
-
02
Regulate
Once you can recognize activation, the next step is learning what helps you regulate it.
You will develop practical strategies for settling your nervous system, staying present with difficult emotions and creating enough internal space to respond more intentionally.
Different strategies work for different people. The goal is not simply to learn techniques, but to understand what actually works for your nervous system and when to use it.
-
03
Rewire
Understanding your patterns is important, but lasting change comes through practice.
Rewiring means repeatedly choosing and practising healthier responses until those responses become more familiar and increasingly available when you need them.
Over time, this can influence how you communicate, manage conflict, set boundaries, make decisions and respond when life becomes difficult.

What Can Change?
The goal isn’t to never get triggered.
It is to recognize it sooner, regulate more effectively, recover more quickly and have greater choice in what you do next.
As you develop these skills, you may begin to notice changes such as:
- Greater awareness of your emotional and physical triggers
- Less automatic reactivity
- An improved ability to settle yourself after stressful situations
- Clearer thinking during conflict
- Greater tolerance for uncomfortable emotions
- Stronger and more appropriate boundaries
- More intentional communication
- Less rumination after difficult interactions
- Increased confidence in your ability to handle challenging situations
- A greater sense of steadiness and self-trust
This is not about becoming emotionally detached.
It is about becoming less controlled by your reactions and more capable of choosing your response.
How the Sessions Work
Practical, individual and paced around you.
- Sessions
- 60 minutes, online
- Fee
- $180 + HST per session
- Full process
- Approximately 10–15 sessions
- Frequency
- Weekly or every two weeks initially
Each session gives us an opportunity to understand what you are currently experiencing, identify the patterns or situations that are creating difficulty, and work with practical regulation strategies that you can begin applying in everyday life.
There is no requirement to purchase a package or commit to a predetermined number of appointments.
However, nervous system patterns develop over time, and meaningful change usually requires repetition and practice.
For people who want to work through the full process, approximately 10–15 sessions is often a useful framework.
Sessions are commonly scheduled weekly or every two weeks initially to establish momentum and allow you to practise between appointments. The frequency can then be adjusted according to your progress, circumstances and goals.
You can also move through the process at your own pace.
This work is coaching and educational in nature. It is separate from osteopathic manual therapy and is not intended to replace medical care, psychotherapy or other regulated mental-health treatment when those services are appropriate.
About Kevin
Kevin Janna
Osteopathic Manual Therapist & Nervous System Regulation Coach
Kevin Janna brings more than 20 years of clinical experience working directly with people and the human body.
From that work, Kevin developed the simple framework:
Recognize. Regulate. Rewire.
His approach is practical rather than purely theoretical.
The goal is not to tell people what they should think or how they should feel. It is to help them better understand what is happening within themselves, develop tools that help them regulate when necessary, and create more freedom in how they respond.
Because ultimately, nervous system regulation is not about controlling everything happening around you.
It is about becoming better able to lead yourself through it.
Next Step
Start with a conversation.
No pressure, no pitch. We talk about what is happening and whether this work is the right fit.
